  • What is CO2?
CO2 is carbon dioxide. It's what animals breathe out and what plants breathe in. It's what puts bubbles in your beer. Under pressure CO2 gas becomes a liquid, which is mixed with special detergents to clean clothes gently and safely.
  • Why is it better to clean with CO2?
CO2 is better for your clothes. Unlike other dry cleaning processes, cleaning with liquid CO2 requires no heat for drying. This means no heat setting of stains and no damage to fibers.
  • CO2 is better for people. It's safer and more pleasant to work with than the chemicals other cleaners use. We care about our staff. Their happiness is the key to our cleaning quality and your satisfaction. CO2 is better for the environment. No pollution. No contamination. No hazardous waste (and who wants to wear that?). Just some happy plants and clean clothes.
  • But isn't CO2 a greenhouse gas?
Production of CO2 is thought to contribute to global warming. However, the CO2 we use is harvested from industrial processes, cleaned, bottled and shipped to us. We have no combustion so we don't create new CO2. Instead, we use a waste product, that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.
  • Does CO2 really get clothes clean?
Absolutely. Consumer studies have rated it as the best dry cleaning method currently on the market. It's much better for fabrics such as leather, down, silk, beads, sequins, wool, Spandex, cotton, nylon, and suede, to name a few. CO2 is gentler and leaves clothes softer. For items with loft, CO2 is ideal. It dissipates more rapidly than other solvents. Besides, who wants to rest their head on a pillow that smells of perchloroethylene?
  • What about all the other cleaners that claim to be environmentally friendly?
Good question. It's confusing out there with all the various claims. It's possible that they are a wet cleaner and use nothing but water. But it's more likely that a non-CO2 cleaner that claims to be environmentally friendly, is using one of the following solvents.
    • GreenEarth = Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, or D5. This is a silicone-based product and was recently linked to cancer in rats and liver failure in humans. Click here for a related NPR story.
    • DF2000 = a petroleum-based product made by Exxon-Mobil. The EPA lists DF2000 as a neurotoxin and skin and eye irritant for workers.
    • Rynex = Dipropylene Glycol Tertiary-Butyl Ether
  • What about customer service?
We recognize that happy customers are the key to a successful business. We'll provide you with an excellent product and make sure that it meets your expectations. If we fail to come through on our end, we'll make it right.
  • Are you a good corporate citizen?
Definitely. The core of our business is cleaning and we use technology that performs well and is environmentally sound. We use these fuels because they're a better product and are better for the earth.
  • We use renewable energy sources as much as we can. We use clean burning alternative fuels for all of our vans and we use wind energy to run our plant and stores. That's right, better for the atmosphere, produced domestically and reduce reliance on foreign oil (that national security issue). That's better for national security, better for the air and better for the earth. Our staff works hard to clean and press your clothes. We want our employees to stick around and lead happy, healthy and productive lives. We provide a clean, safe and comfortable workplace. Better for our people and better for our business. We want you to feel good when you visit us. Our retail stores are full of fun surfaces like bamboo hardwoods, cork flooring and reclaimed particle board. Sustainable wood sources that make beautiful surroundings. Better for forests and better for our customers.
  • So you've got nice stores, top-notch staff and an environmentally friendly process. Are you going to charge an arm and a leg?
Absolutely not. We provide a superior product at a price comparable to other full service cleaners. Click here for our prices.
  • So what else can you clean?
We can clean all sorts items. Duvets, cushions, blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, stuffed animals, hockey pads and more. Just ask.
  • Do you reward regular customers?
Certainly. Our Revolution Cleaners Club remembers your preferences, notifies you when your clothes are ready and gives you periodic free cleanings as a token of our thanks. We'll even give you a renewable fabric hemp laundry bag to expedite drop off.
